thanks for the nudge!
I have been gently reminded that I haven't posted in 50 weeks! Not as if much has changed---aside from getting engaged, planning an increasingly massive wedding and graduating law school.

Looking back, I see that I often write about the small things. It's the big things that I have trouble summing up in words. Rather than look backwards (unless you are really interested in the proposal story--I strive not to be one of those girls to give more sappy information than anyone wants), I will discuss the future.

I just finished a week of one bar study course and am about to start the serious one (barbri) on Tuesday. So far I've learned that I wasted 3 years of my life learning details for a test that does not require much detail. And although I've been told that approximately 75% of people pass the Bar (90% of my school last time), that does not bring my comfort. If I pass, it won't seem like much of an accomplishment (given the caliber of some of my classmates). If I fail, I may have to be institutionalized. So, really, it's a win-win.

After the dreaded Bar, there is the wedding. About 85 days from now. Don't get me wrong, I am very much looking forward to marrying Travis. I am not, however, looking forward to the wedding. Every day it becomes more apparent that this day is not about Travis and my eternal commitment. It's about centerpieces and invitation wording.

Any advice, married people? Things you liked/didn't like about your wedding? Things you would have done differently?

Off for a run with the pup. She is my new fitness coach. Because weddings are also about looking your best, right? :)

This is why we had a tiny wedding.

Since that's no longer an option for you two, don't be afraid to ask for help! Also, don't freak out if everything isn't perfect. Do you like what the wedding will look like? Does it make you happy? Make sure the focus is on the marriage, not the wedding!!!

Expect more nudges, if that's all it takes to get you to update!

You're studying for the bar while planning a wedding? And I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

Yay! Thanks for the post. I totally understand your wedding frustrations. In the months before my wedding, it seemed like my mom and the little ladies from my church were trying to take over my life!

"I HAD to use THIS cake lady because she does EVERYBODY's cake and SO and SO says she does a good job even though she doesn't DO fondant and WHY doesn't Barb make you a veil using lace from your MOTHER's veil and WHY haven't you made a seating chart yet? You know seating charts are very important and...."

Goodness. It didn't get any better until Raymond and I had a meltdown in the car on our way to our last pre-marriage counseling session and decided: we don't care!

We don't care what kinds of centerpieces we have. Mrs. Reusser does? Let her pick. Since mom volunteered to pick up the napkins, let her pick the napkins. We just said a general color theme and let people go crazy. Really.

I say set a few guidelines and then let everyone else run around like crazy people. They will anyway, so you might as well let them do it. :-)

Also, I accidentally sealed half of the RSVP envelopes before sending them in the invitations. My passive aggressive ex-boss at College Hill Coffee mentioned it at my reception with a smirk. My old boss at F5 (where I was an intern and did fake horoscopes) said he thought his sealed envelope meant it was "divined" that he should attend. People bring their own baggage to things. :-)

Good luck! Fight the good fight! I'm going to try my best to be there.

Also, you and Travis have the COOLEST wedding invitation! It's on my fridge.
